Drop Cookies
These drop cookies are a fantastic base for a myriad of different toppings!
This is precisely the type of cookie I absolutely love for the holidays. You have a base that can be used for all different kinds of cookies. There are a few mix-ins listed below, but you could realistically go for whatever you want here. You could do red hots, chocolate chips, chocolate Kisses, or even Hugs. We opted to do M&Ms, sugar sprinkles, and peppermint Kisses. These are especially fun to make with the help of any young people you have in your life. My kids (even my teenagers) had fun helping make these cookies.
What You Need:
For the Cookie Dough:
1 1/2 cups unsalted butter, softened
1 1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
2 large egg yolks
2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. salt
4 cups all purpose flour
For the Mix-Ins:
M&Ms
Hershey kisses
Sprinkles
or pick your favorite!
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar in a stand mixer with the paddle attachment for about one minute.
Add eggs, egg yolks, and vanilla and mix until smooth.
Add baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt. Mix until just combined.
Add flour and mix until dough forms.
Prep a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
For M&M cookies, scoop 2 Tbsp. dough and top with 5 to 7 M&Ms on top. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 9 to 11 minutes.
For Blossom cookies, scoop 1 Tbsp. dough. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 7 to 9 minutes. Remove from oven and top with Hershey kisses.
For Sprinkle cookies, scoop 2 Tbsp. dough and roll in sprinkles. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 9 to 11 minutes.
For all cookies, let cookies rest for a few minutes before removing to a wire rack.
