Maple Brown Sugar Glazed Ham
A perfect holiday ham recipe with all of the warm winter spices added to a delicious maple brown sugar glaze!
Occasionally I will make foods that I know I may not love because someone in my family likes it or will like it. This recipe was made because my husband loves maple anything. I personally was surprised at how much I liked this ham glaze. The maple wasn’t overstated by any means and it wasn’t too sweet. The nutmeg, cloves, ginger, and cinnamon really make this such a lovely winter time recipe.
What you need:
8-12 lb. spiral sliced ham
For the Maple Brown Sugar Glaze:
1/2 cup maple syrup
1/3 cup brown sugar
2 Tbsp. yellow mustard
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. ginger
1/4 tsp. ground cloves
Directions:
If you have one, place 2 cups of water into the bottom of a roasting pan with a roasting rack. Wrap ham in foil and then set on roasting rack. If you don’t have a roasting pan, just wrap in foil and place on a baking sheet lined with foil.
Bake in a preheated 325 degree oven for about 2 hours.
For the glaze: Place all ingredients into a medium saucepan and whisk over medium high heat.
Bring to a boil, then lower heat to a simmer and stir often until thickened, about 10 minutes.
Once ham has finished cooking, remove from oven and remove foil carefully.
Brush ham all over with the glaze making sure to get in between the slices.
Return to oven and bake for another 30 minutes.
Remove from oven and brush once more with glaze.
Let rest for 10 to 15 minutes before serving.
