Easy & Creamy Ground Turkey Pasta
This easy pasta dish is ready in under 30 minutes - perfect for a busy night!
I recently talked about preferring a dish that may take a little longer than 30 minutes to make if it is less preparation and just gets thrown in the oven. However, I do like this style of 30 minute recipe because there isn’t a lot of mise en place taking place (pun intended). It’s all rather quick and I do love the simplicity overall of the recipe. It reminds me a lot of my mom’s goulash.
What You Need:
12 oz. medium shell pasta
1 lb. ground turkey
3 Tbsp. olive oil, divided
2 cloves minced garlic
1/2 large red bell pepper, diced
1/2 large white onion, diced
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. Italian seasoning
2 Tbsp. all purpose flour
2 cups beef broth
1 can (15 oz.) tomato sauce
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
Fresh basil to garnish
Directions:
Cook pasta according to package directions and drain.
In a Dutch oven or wide stock pot, heat 2 Tbsp. olive oil over medium heat.
Add ground turkey and season with salt and pepper. Cook until browned, crumbling as you go. Drain and set turkey aside.
In the stock pot, add remaining 1 Tbsp. olive oil and add garlic, bell pepper, and onion. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Cook for about 5 minutes.
Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute. Add beef broth and tomato sauce and stir to combine. Bring to a simmer.
Add ground turkey, cooked pasta, heavy cream, and Parmesan. Stir to combine.
Simmer and stir occasionally until sauce thickens. Garnish with fresh basil.
